Rules for Hosting in Kanasta Friends

1. Never lose your temper. If you feel yourself losing control ask for help on messenger. (I need a break can anyone help please) We are a team and should all be willing to help each other as needed.

2. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your hosting slot. If you do not arrive early, an HTD or Admin may move your tournaments and either fill the block or ask someone else to fill that block. Please do not be surprised if one of your fnf tournaments has to be started by an HTD or admin. We try to avoid this but it does occasionally happen. We are a team and we work together.

3. Be sure you have read the CODE OF CONDUCT and are familiar with our rules.

4. If you can keep up, you can be given permission to play in 1 tournament (your own or another) while hosting (singles or a doubles). This must be approved by the td manager. If you find yourself overwhelmed by playing and hosting or you are behind in your hosting duties consistently while playing, please give the win or get a sub (in dubs) to your opponent and focus on your hosting. If any admin finds that you are playing and not keeping up with your hosting duties they may revoke this right.

5. Please put your tournaments up in blocks of 1 hour so that it gives other TD's a break (example: start hosting at 9:00 am and end hosting at 9:45 am) You do not have to start or end at any specific time just please take a minimum of a full hour of hosting and a maximum slot of 5 hours.

6. As required you must preset some of your tournaments. You may 'take a block' by putting a tournament in your starting time and a tournament at your ending time. MAXIMUM BLOCK TIME OF 5 HOURS. You will need to fill in the block with the tournaments as soon as you are able to. This is how you will preset and it gives others a chance to fill in around you. This allows admin to either fill in the calendar or put out an sos email. Please do not add tournaments in the middle of someone's block unless you are adding a special that is listed on the TD schedule. The only time you can host a single tournament is when you are training or running specials.

7. When making tournaments: Please put up at a minimum - singles tournaments every 15 minutes and  Doubles must be set 00 and 30 min. Marks after 5 pm.  You will probably add/need more but this is a minimum set.

8. What to do when a table is made incorrectly.

 a. If the table is incorrect and there is no posted score, the game is cancelled and they will remake the table and start over.

b. If a table should be 421 or 221 (ntc games) but the table was made 422 or 222 and there is a score posted on the table, the game will continue on with needing two canastas until there is a winner.

 c. If a table should be 422 or 222 (nt games) but the table was made 421 or 221 and there is a score posted on the table, once it is posted in the table chat area that the table is made wrong, the game should continue, but neither team shall go out until there are two canastas made. If a team goes out without the required two canastas it will be considered a DQ.

9. Please be sure to mark your winners from round to round. The members check the standings pages and will complain if you do not keep them marked correctly and if anyone needs to take over they know what post you are waiting on. You can close out your tournaments as you go along or after you are done but please, mark winners.

10. We all get behind, lose connection or whatever life throws your way, please ask for help when you need it. There is nothing offensive with asking anyone for help or offering to help! HTD'S and Admin are here to help members and staff alike. Everyone is expected to step up no matter what your title is. This means that if you see someone struggling, you can ask if you can help by taking request or any other capacity that is needed.

11. If both players leave before playing, the first person that gets a timer is the first person to time out.

12. When you come in to the lobby to host, be kind to the host in front of you. Please either ask in lobby to share caps or if you can spam. If the host before you has not finished filling their tours either wait until their tours are full before spamming your own or spam theirs with yours. Work Together!

13. You must have a bold, easy to read font and the color needs to be reasonably dark. No italics or cursive or light colored fonts. If another staff member asks you to change the color, please do so. If you are playing as a member, please use any color you choose.

14. Everyone loves their tournament pages to look beautiful but when you make your pages, you need to check that every link works properly. The entire tournament needs to be easy to see and read. Some members have vision problems, so if you are asked by a member or staff to change your font colors, please do so. There is no need for smart remarks, just change them and make sure in the future they are correct.

15. You must have your messenger turned on while in lobby. All members that are playing must have their messenger on. If a members messenger is not on while in the lobby, they may not play or enter a tournament. If a players messenger is off, flag them once "turn on messenger when in lobby please" if they do not turn it on, soft boot and make sure you put the reason "they didn't turn on messenger when asked in lobby"

16. Please work together and try to help one another when things go wrong. Do not just tell on your fellow tds or try to create drama with them.

17. When creating tournaments: YOU MUST USE CAPS

 a. Format Line: You must spell out the game name for Example: ACES NO OUT NT (ANO) ... OR ACES NO OUT NT DUBS (ANO) DO NOT ABBREVIATE. You may abbreviate in lobby but not on your tournament pages.

 b. Tournament Name: TD Name, Game Name. For Example: SMOKEDIVER310'S ACES NO OUT NT (If people are in more than one td's tournaments this well help them post correctly)

 c. Tournaments should be 100 buxs charge, however if you are running a swiss, de, or a special tournament (birthday /appreciation) you may charge up to 150 and add td donations as you please. For the league daily / weekly specials you will need to check to see the amount to charge and rules for adding donations.

 d. Please select canasta from the drop down menu.

18. When posting tournaments: (All Post Should Follow this Format IN CAPS, NO EXCEPTIONS)

 a. Line One: Game Name, include nt or ntc & Table Setting Example: ANO NT 222
(What the 222 means: 2 Players, Draw 2 Cards, 2 Canastas)
   OR: SOS NTC DUBS 421
(What the 421 means: 4 Players, Draw 2 cards, 1 Canasta)
you will adjust the number of players and number of canastas depending on what you are hosting.

 b. Line Two: PLAYER1 VS PLAYER2. Example: DISCODANCINDUCK VS SMOKEDIVER310

 c. Line Three: PLAYER3 VS PLAYER4. You will continue posting 1 set of pairs per line until all of your pairs are posted.

 d. Bye: If there are byes you may post them either of these ways:  PLAYER1 VS BYE or at the end of your last pairs: THE REST HAVE A BYE.

 e. Last Line: GL TIME IS (CURRENT CASES TIME IS USED)

 f. When posting doubles, always use players names (NOT TEAM NAME)

19. When you are hosting always use CAPS LOCK. No Shortkeys are allowed in lobby.

20. When someone is missing (MIA): (you will never have two subs on the same team for a doubles game)

 a. From Original Post Singles Game: MIA PLAYER1 FROM POST (TIME OF PAIRS POST) TAB #

 b. During a singles game that has started: MIA PLAYER1 TIME (USE THE TIME STAMP IN THE LOBBY FROM NEPTUNE IF THEY LEFT OR THE TIME THEIR OPPONENT POSTED THAT THEY ARE NOT PLAYING IN LOBBY) TAB #

 c. From Original Post Double Game: Wait 5 min. from post then request a sub in the lobby (this person will sub for the entire game): SUB NEEDED TAB # GAME NOT STARTED

 d. During a doubles game that has started: Get a sub immediately (this person will sub until the end of the game if the original player is not back or until they finish a hand if the original player comes back): SUB NEEDED TAB # GAME STARTED

21. Members cannot hold tables. Message them and kindly ask them to leave table. If they get upset, politely tell them you would like to use the table. If they refuse to leave the table, soft boot and put the reason: members are not allowed to sit at tables, if they are not playing.

22. Sometimes when playing or hosting a problem with a table or score might occur. If any issues occur, make sure that no one leaves the table, go to the table and hit CTRL+Alt+D at the same time. You will be able to see the file. Please email the file and a screen shot of the table to safeharborgames@gmail.com.

23. As stated in your TD or HTD guidelines, if you cannot make the obligated amount of tournaments for a week. Please email admin and let them know.

24. There may come a time that you need to take screen shots. Please download a free screen shot program in case you need it.

25. If you are interested in training on the swiss, weakest link, TOC or multiples, please let your trainer know.

26. Do not abuse the email TD'S / HTD'S FROM THE TD MENU UNLESS IT IS A NOTICE FOR ALL TD'S. DO NOT EMAIL YOUR PERSONAL ISSUES / RANTS / OR INDIVIDUAL PROBLEMS TO ALL STAFF. INSTEAD PLEASE EMAIL YOUR TRAINER OR ADMIN ONLY.

27. We do not delete tournaments that don't fill. We remove the players and move the tournament to another time period and close it. You will then use it the next time you host. If there is an issue such as dropping teams / players then you can delete the tournament.
